ALUMNI NEWSRuben Carbonell *73 named fellow of American Chemical Society division The Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Division of the American Chemical Society has named Dr. Ruben Carbonell a Fellow. Carbonell, who received his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Princeton, is the Frank Hawkins Kenan Distinguished Professor of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University. The Fellow award will be presented at the national American Chemical Society meeting in April 2008, during which a symposium will be held in Carbonell’s honor. Carbonell also directs the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology and Science at N.C. State and established the Kenan Fellows for Curriculum and Leadership Program, a national model for K-12 outreach. He also has been the co-director of the Science and Technology Center for Environmentally Responsible Solvents and Processes, a National Science Foundation-funded collaborative research effort with participants from five universities and two national laboratories based in the southeastern region of the country. |
