Mitchell
heads Arrow
MELVILLE, N.Y.--William E. Mitchell '66
has been named president and chief executive officer (CEO)
of Arrow Electronics Inc., and was appointed to the company's
board of directors.
Mr. Mitchell was previously chairman, president,
and CEO of Sequel Inc., a privately held company he joined
in 1995. Within four years he converted Sequel's core business
from a provider of disk drive repair and maintenance to a
computer services outsourcing company.
In 1999 Mr. Mitchell joined Solectron Corp.
and formed Solectron Global Services Inc., a services outsourcing
enterprise. Solectron subsequently acquired Sequel Inc., and
Mr. Mitchell served as executive vice president of Solectron
Corp. and president of Solectron Global Services Inc.
During his three years with Solectron he
built the company's Global Services division into a profitable
$1.2-billion business, with more than 40 sites and 17,000
employees worldwide.
Mr. Mitchell holds a B.S.E. in basic engineering
from Princeton and a master's of science degree from the University
of Michigan, where he was named a National Science Foundation
Fellow.

Carnes

STATE COLLEGE, Pa.--James E. Carnes *70
was elected to the board of directors of C-COR.net Corp. Dr.
Carnes, who recently retired as president and CEO of the Sarnoff
Corp., is a recognized researcher in advanced television electronics
and an authority in the field of charge-coupled devices with
33 years combined service at Sarnoff and RCA Corp. He holds
nine U.S. patents and is the author of more than 100 papers
and presentations.
Dr. Carnes holds a Ph.D. in electrical
engineering from Princeton and is a fellow of the Institute
of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a member of the
National Academy of Engineering.
Kelsey joins
board
WATSONVILLE, Calif.--David H. Kelsey '73
has been named to the board of directors for Granite Construction
Inc. Mr. Kelsey is vice president and chief financial officer
(CFO) for Sealed Air Corp.
From 1998 to 2001, he served as vice president
and CFO for Oglebay Norton Co., a processor of specialty industrial
minerals. From 1994 to 1998, he served as executive vice president
and chief financial officer for Host Communications Inc.
Mr. Kelsey earned his B.S.E. in civil and
geological engineering and holds a master's of business administration
from the Harvard Graduate School of Business.
Raritan appoints
COO
SOMERSET, N.J.--Thomas M. Swift '76 has
been named to the newly created position of chief operating
officer at Raritan Computer Inc. Mr. Swift assumes day-to-day
operational responsibilities and management of Raritan and
its more than 250 employees.
Previously, Mr. Swift was vice president
of Lucent's Worldwide Services unit. During his 16 years at
AT&T, he held positions in its services, software, transmission,
and computer business units.
He has a B.S.E. in mechanical and aerospace
engineering from Princeton and two master's degrees--an M.S.
in applied mechanics from Stanford and an M.B.A. from the
University of Michigan.
McGee promoted
NEW YORK--Hugh "Skip" E. McGee
'81 has been named global head of investment banking at Lehman
Brothers, where he is responsible for the division's global
industry, product, and geographic groups, which provide strategic
advisory and capital raising services.
Previously, Mr. McGee was head of the firm's
Global Natural Resources and Global Power Groups. Mr. McGee,
a managing director, joined Lehman Brothers in 1992 and has
been active in investment banking for more than 15 years.
He earned his B.S.E. in civil engineering
from Princeton and his J.D. from the University of Texas School
of Law.
Timmerman named VP
PALO ALTO, Calif.--Steve Timmerman '81
has joined Bermai Inc. as vice president of marketing and
business development, where he will lead Bermai's global marketing
and business development initiatives.
Before joining Bermai, Mr. Timmerman served
as vice president of marketing for Proxim.
Mr. Timmerman has held key management positions
at Proxim, Octel Communications (acquired by Lucent Technologies),
and McKinsey.
He began his career as a principal engineer
developing computer-based economic analysis programs for small
power projects. He holds a bachelor's degree in mechanical
and aerospace engineering, magna cum laude, from Princeton,
and a master's degree in business administration from Harvard.
Batungbacal
is CEO
Makati City, Philippines--Karen Batungbacal
*83 has been named CEO responsible for global business at
Source One Asia. Ms. Batungbacal will serve as the primary
liaison between Source One's North American, European, Australian,
and Philippine operations.
Ms. Batungbacal received the Diamond Award
in Customer Service (telecom sector) in the 1999 TelePerformance
Philippines Grand Prix Awards for Customer Service. She also
won the Gold Award the previous year.
Ms. Batungbacal cofounded the Customer
Service Association of the Philippines (CSAP), the first customer
service trade association of that country. CSAP now operates
under an umbrella organization, Contact Federation Philippines,
where Ms. Batungbacal serves as president.
Ms. Batungbacal earned her undergraduate
degree and master's degree both in chemical engineering from
the University of Notre Dame and Princeton, respectively.
UMEZ taps
Simmons
NEW YORK--James H. Simmons III '88 has
been named interim president at Upper Manhattan Empowerment
Zone (UMEZ). He will manage the day-to-day operations of the
federally funded agency.
Previously, he was chief investment officer
of UMEZ and was responsible for approximately $250 million
of capital invested in emerging and start-up enterprises as
well as major commercial developments. In addition, he oversaw
the organization's overall strategy to encourage economic
growth and empowerment across the entire Upper Manhattan community.
Prior to joining UMEZ, Mr. Simmons worked
for three years as a fixed-income trader at Salomon Smith
Barney. He holds a master's degree in engineering from Virginia
Polytechnic Institute and State University and a bachelor's
degree in electrical engineering from Princeton.
Velussi now
associate
DALLAS--Luca Velussi '92 had been an associate
of Hicks, Muse, Tate & Furst Inc. (HMTF), a Dallas-based
private investment firm. Prior to joining HMTF in 2000, Mr.
Velussi was employed by Goldman, Sachs, & Co. in London,
where he served for three years in the advisory group and
two years in the principal investments group. Mr. Velussi
received his B.S.E. in electrical engineering from Princeton
and his master's in finance from the HEC School of Management
in Paris.
Wilson promoted
NEW YORK--Wade Wilson '92 has been appointed
a senior associate at Trammell Crow Co.'s New York office.
In his new position, Mr. Wilson will be responsible for institutional
investment services and corporate leasing.
Prior to joining Trammell Crow, he served
as director of the New York office of the United System Integrators
Corp. Mr. Wilson holds a B.S.E. in electrical engineering
from Princeton.
New partner
named
RESTON, Va.--Thanasis Delistathis '93 has
been named a partner at Draper Atlantic, an early-stage information
technology venture capital firm. Mr. Delistathis joined the
firm in May 2000 as a principal investor.
Mr. Delistathis is experienced in building
early-stage technology companies. He led investment banking
for Thermo Electron Corp., a global technology company serving
the life sciences, optical technologies, and measurement and
control markets. Mr. Delistathis has also worked for McKinsey
& Co. in Washington, D.C., as a management consultant.
He currently serves on the boards
of InphoMatch, SynapseSoft, V3 Systems, and AppForge and also
works with DivXNetworks and aTelo. He holds an M.B.A. from
the Harvard Business School and a B.S.E. magna cum laude in
electrical engineering and a B.A. in public policy, both from
Princeton.
