Three awards for EQuad News

The Association of Educational Publishers (AEP) named EQuad News a finalist in the 2003 Distinguished Achievement Awards. The 2003 Communicator Awards print media competition gave EQuad News a Crystal Award of Excellence and an Award of Distinction.

EQuad News was named a finalist in the category Whole Publication, Newsletter, in the annual AEP competition.

Chosen from more than 900 entries in 43 categories, the finalists represent the best in educational publishing. Finalists are chosen based on editorial content and design quality, accuracy and timeliness of information, creativity and originality, age-appropriateness, cohesiveness and integration of design and content, and informative reporting with functional design.

EQuad News has been named a finalist on two previous occasions--both times in the category Periodicals, Series, Adult.

This annual competition is frequently referred to as the Academy Awards of educational publishing.

The 2003 Communicator Awards Crystal Award of Excellence went to the fall 2002 issue of EQuad News in the category of educational institution newsletter.

This award is presented to entrants whose ability to communicate places them among the very best in their field. Only about 12 percent of entries receive this award.

The Award of Distinction is a writing award that recognizes the overall quality of writing in the fall 2002 EQuad News.

Contributors to EQuad News are Director of Engineering Communications Ann Haver-Allen, Communications Assistant Sara Peters, copy editor Alicia G. Brzycki, photographer Frank Wojciechowski, and writers Steve Schultz, Peter Page, and David Barry.
