New to Avici
board
William Leighton '74 '77 has
joined the board of directors at Avici Systems Inc. Mr. Leighton
recently retired from AT&T after 28 years of service in
various organizations, most recently as vice president of
research at AT&T Labs, where he led the team responsible
for AT&T’s core and directed research program. Prior
to that, he was vice president of technology and services
strategy at AT&T Labs.
Mr. Leighton has his master’s degree and Ph.D. in electrical
engineering and computer science from Princeton. He also completed
an advanced management program at Harvard Business School.
Avici Systems is located in North Billerica,
Mass., and is a provider of purpose-built carrier-class routing
solutions for the Internet.
Anhalt joins Orbital
David A. Anhalt '77 has joined
Orbital Sciences Corp. as senior director of special programs
in the Advanced Programs Group. In this position, Mr. Anhalt
will lead Orbital’s efforts in providing innovative
space systems for the national security and military space
market.
Previously, Mr. Anhalt was in the United States Air Force
for 28 years, including serving in the Department of Defense
and on the air staff at the Pentagon. Most recently, he served
as chief of the Space Control and Advanced Technologies Division
for the Undersecretary of the Air Force.
Mr. Anhalt received his bachelor’s
degree in electrical engineering from the U.S. Air Force Academy,
and his master’s degree in mechanical and aerospace
engineering from Princeton. Additionally, he holds a master’s
degree in international relations from Queen’s University,
Ontario, Canada.
New board member
Frost R.R. Prioleau ’82
is the newest member of the board of directors of Critical
Path Inc. Mr. Prioleau is a managing partner of Blue Bridge
Capital, a company he founded in 2003 to provide capital and
management support to companies with high growth potential.
In conjunction with investments made by Blue Bridge Capital,
Mr. Prioleau is currently serving as the chief executive officer
of the Nova Media Group and Blue Plex Partners. Prior to founding
Blue Bridge Capital, Mr. Prioleau was president and a member
of the board of directors of Intraware Inc.
Critical Path is a global provider of digital communications
software and services. Mr. Prioleau earned his bachelor’s
degree in civil engineering.
Bailey promoted
Adriene Bailey ’85 has
been named executive vice president of business development
and transportation purchasing for Pacer Stacktrain.
Ms. Bailey has more than 14 years experience in transportation-related
planning and operations, holding key positions in logistics
and equipment management for Pacer Stacktrain. She joined
the Pacer organization in 2000 as vice president for planning
for Pacer International, the parentorganization.
Ms. Bailey has served as assistant vice
president for service planning and operations research at
CSX Transportation, responsible for planning the merchandise
operating network of more than 350 daily trains. She also
has held posts related to operational, financial, and strategic
planning for Southern Pacific Railroad, where she was vice
president of service planning and design.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in
civil engineering from Princeton and an M.B.A. in strategic
management from the Wharton School of Business.
Baer is president, CEO
Jeffrey A. Baer ’95 is
the new president and chief exe-cutive officer of Community
of Science Inc., a Baltimore-based provider of information
to the academic and scientific research communities.
Mr. Baer has been a member of the Community of Science senior
management team since joining the organization in 1997, most
recently serving as director of federal services.
Before joining Community of Science, Mr. Baer taught thermodynamics
and engineering design at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore.
Mr. Baer earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical
and aerospace engineering from Princeton.
