Axis Capital Holdings Limited has appointed Sandeep Ramachandran a senior vice president and co-head of the weather and commodity markets initiative at Axis Re. He will share responsibility to establish and manage its global weather and energy business.

Ramachandran moved from Morgan Stanley. It was there, along with then teammate who is now co-head at Axis, that he established the weather and outage risk management team within the company’s commodities business unit. Ramachandran served in a similar role at Swiss Re, where he was director and head of weather and electricity outage protection products. In addition, he has been a member of the board of directors of the Weather Risk Management Association.

Ramachandran received his MSE in civil engineering from Princeton in 1999. An active alumnus, he volunteers by interviewing applicants for the Princeton Admission Office. Ramachandran’s undergraduate degree, also in civil engineering, is from the Indian Institute of Technology in Bombay.
