Diversity Champions Program

All faculty, staff, and researchers at Princeton Engineering are invited to join the school’s Diversity Champions Program.

The School of Engineering and Applied Science deeply values diversity across our community and aspires to create an inclusive workspace and educational environment where all thrive. This program offers opportunities for the community to learn, share, and practice strategies related to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

What is it?

Participants in the Diversity Champions program craft their own learning plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion. The goal is for participants to identify a question or questions they want to understand better and to find events, trainings, or discussions that help them advance their understanding and practice in that area. Participants can join the program at any time.

Why should I join?

Given the current efforts to combat systemic racism at Princeton and beyond, you may have questions about diversity, equity, and inclusion issues in the workplace. Topics for consideration include:

  • How can I better contribute to an inclusive environment in my group?
  • I hear this term ‘microaggressions’ but I don’t really get it. Why is that important?
  • I myself am a member of a minority group at the engineering school. How does ‘diversity training’ apply to me?
  • What’s the history and relevance of including your pronouns in introductions?
  • How can I make a difference on issues that seem rooted in so many societal factors beyond my control?

Participate in the Diversity Champions program to help yourself overcome barriers and questions you face around matters of diversity, equity, and inclusion and to help Princeton Engineering create a welcoming environment for all. You will be able to list this program in professional contexts such as your annual performance review, resume, or CV.
