B.S.E. students select an engineering department at the end of their freshman year. Their department then assumes the responsibility for their advising. The departmental representative has the primary responsibility for advising but may delegate it to other faculty members based on a student’s class year or choice of departmental program.
Working with the departmental representative, the undergraduate administrator of the department maintains student records and monitors degree progress. The principal avenue of communication with external offices about B.S.E. sophomores, juniors and seniors is through the departmental representative and the undergraduate administrator.
The SEAS Undergraduate Affairs Office provides general advice and information and works closely with the departmental representatives and administrators. Funds administered by the Undergraduate Affairs Office enable students enrolled for junior or senior independent work or a senior thesis to meet expenses connected with their research.
