Princeton Engineering has acquired licenses for a range of resources to support faculty members in writing grant proposals. Also, we’ve contracted with two consultants who can provide review and feedback of drafts of proposals and pre-submission.
The licensed resources include a detailed guidebook, a monthly newsletter, and a self-paced course on pursuing early-career awards. In addition, we have compiled our own guide that outlines key contacts and resources within Princeton. All are linked below.

2025 faculty guide to competing for research funding
A roadmap for developing and funding successful academic research projects. Created by the consulting firm Academic Research Funding Strategies, the guide covers every step, from creating a research agenda and identifying the right funding sources to crafting compelling proposals, working with collaborators, and navigating agency review processes. You’ll also find insights on topics such as federal vs. private funding, supporting less well-funded research areas, and preparing equipment proposals.

Research Development Newsletter
A monthly newsletter to help faculty compete successfully for research and education funding from federal agencies and foundations.

NSF Career Proposal Course
This online self-paced course provides a detailed discussion of the NSF CAREER program and step-by-step guidance on how to write a winning proposal.

Consultations
Princeton Engineering provides access to external consultants who can review and provide feedback on your grants prior to submission.
Once you have a draft for review, you may contact one of the consultants below to request review and feedback.
Note: To provide sufficient time for review and feedback, schedule your appointment and submit your draft materials one to two weeks in advance of the funding agency’s deadline.
