Salman S. Malik ’91 joins BrightPearl as CEO

BrightPearl announced that Salman Malik has joined the business software company located in Bristol, U.K., as its new CEO.

Malik had been an angel investor in start-ups for several years. Among the companies he helped to secure funding was BrightPearl. Now, as its CEO, Malik will focus on driving global expansion.

BrightPearl is a hosted software company that sells integrated accounting, customer relationship management (CRM), order and stock management, e-commerce and help desk services for a monthly fee.

Malik, who earned his B.S.E. in electrical engineering from Princeton, was an executive at Siebel Systems, a CRM software company that was bought by Oracle in 2005, at which time Malik departed. Prior to Siebel, he was co-founder of Firefly, a pioneer of web personalization technology that was acquired by Microsoft in 1998.
