Westinghouse Electric Company, a nuclear energy company and supplier of nuclear plant products and technologies to utilities worldwide, appointed Douglas Weaver as vice president of nuclear regulatory affairs. He will be responsible for maintaining relationships with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC).

Weaver brings to the position over 25 years of related experience. Before joining Westinghouse, he was vice president of licensing and regulatory affairs at Holtec International, a manufacturer and supplier of equipment and systems for the energy industry. Weaver served as deputy director of the spent fuel storage and transportation division and in other positions at the NRC. In prior years, he was an officer in the U.S. Navy.

A 1985 graduate from Princeton’s Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, Weaver went on to become an engineer qualified with the U.S. Navy’s Nuclear Power Program.
