California Governor Jerry Brown has appointed James Adler to the California Law Revision Commission, an independent state agency that assists the Legislature and Governor by examining California law and recommending needed reforms.

Adler, who holds a law degree from the University of Michigan, has been an arbitrator and mediator since 2005, when he withdrew from the active practice of labor and employment law. From 1982 to 2005, he was a partner at Irell and Manella LLP, a firm specializing in litigation and transactions in various aspects of business law. Earlier in his career, Adler was a partner at Munger Tolles and Olson LLP. He earned his undergraduate degree in basic engineering at Princeton in 1958.
