The Consumer Electronics Association selected Robert Briskman, technical executive of Sirius XM, to be inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame. Briskman was recognized for “advancing the products and services that inform, educate entertain and keep consumers connected.” He will be honored along with 11 other professionals selected for their contributions at the association’s Industry Forum in San Francisco in October 2012.

Also in recent news, the North American Broadcasters Association named Briskman the organization’s new president. He began his two-year term at the end of February for the non-profit, which provides a forum for North American broadcasters to share information and best practices, discuss common challenges and opportunities and reach agreement on key issues.

Briskman has been with Sirius XM since 1991 when he co-founded the company, then named Satellite CD Radio. Briskman was responsible for the development, implementation and operation of the Sirius XM broadcast distribution system. In 2000, Briskman supervised the launch of three Sirius satellites into a unique operational orbital constellation, which he designed. Before his current position, he served as chief technology officer and executive vice president of Sirius.

Briskman received a BSE from Princeton in 1954 and an M.S. from the University of Maryland in 1961, both in electrical engineering. He is a fellow of IEEE and AIAA, among other associations.
