Princeton’s School of Engineering and Applied Science welcomed new students to campus at the 2010 freshman engineering orientation on Monday, Sept. 13, bringing the number of enrolled undergraduate engineering students at Princeton to 936. Photos from the event are pictured above.

Of the freshmen entering Princeton this year as part of the class of 2014, 261 will pursue a bachelor of science in engineering. The incoming engineering freshman class includes 108 women.

Also joining the engineering school this fall were 141 new graduate students. H. Vincent Poor, dean of the engineering school, welcomed the students at the graduate orientation on Wednesday, Sept. 15.

During the freshman orientation, professors from the six engineering departments explained what distinguishes their respective departments and engineering upperclassmen were on hand to help students choose a major and get registered for classes.

On Wednesday, students attended the engineering faculty lecture, delivered by Edward Felten, a professor of computer science and director of Princeton’s Center for Information Technology Policy. The lecture, titled “Rip/Mix/Burn/Sue,” explored the history and politics surrounding the fight to control digital media.
