Silvia Ferrari received a 2006 Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers. An assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Duke University, Ferrari received the PECASE award following her 2005 National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development Award. Together, these honors will provide her with more than $400,000 in research funding over the next five years. Ferrari earned her Ph.D. in mechanical and aerospace engineering from Princeton. At Duke, where she directs the Laboratory for Intelligent Systems and Controls, Ferrari’s research focuses on the advancement of adaptive control technology.
