Course Access

Requests are subject to staffing and resource availability. If you are interested in partnering, please contact us as early as possible—at least four weeks in advance of any project launch.

Our most updated list of large equipment is available on our website. We also offer a collection of hand and power tools.

  • Tours of the space
  • Consultations on project feasibility
  • Demonstrations on specific pieces of equipment – available on a case by case basis depending on:
    • Our staffing availability
    • The number of students in your course
    • Your proposed project requirements
    • For larger courses we may ask that your TAs receive in-depth training to help support your students
    • We currently do not offer class access to the wood shop

If all students in your course are required to complete a project the materials will need to be paid for through course funds. We can provide:

  • an estimate of the materials cost needed for the project
  • with four weeks notice the Tiger Works manager can order the appropriate materials once a chart string is provided
  • if you plan to provide or order your own materials they must be pre-approved

Project Storage

We have plastic tubs and a few larger wood cubbies available for checkout.

Yes, we have very limited storage for projects exceeding 24 inches in length, width, or height. If your project will exceed these dimensions please speak with the lab manager before you start working.

  1. Locate an empty storage bin – ask a student employee if you need help
  2. Scan the QR code located on the Tiger Works check-in desk and fill out the form
  3. Renew your storage after 30 days if you are still actively working on the project
  4. Once your project is complete and you have moved out of the storage, notify a student employee so they can make the storage available to another student
  • Your storage bin will need to be renewed once a month, and should be emptied when your project is complete.
  • These bins are for active projects only, long term storage is not allowed.
  • All storage bins must be completely emptied when Tiger Works closes at the end of the school year. If you have active storage you will receive an email outlining a deadline for removal of all items. Any items that are left beyond this date will be considered abandoned and integrated back into Tiger Works stock/scrap bins or thrown away.

No, all tables and workbenches must be cleared before you leave the space. This is a shared facility and we need to make work space available to others. Storing projects on the floor is a tripping hazard and not allowed. Exceptions may be made for overnight glue-ups.

Every effort will be made to contact you to request that you move it. In the event that we cannot contact you, unused materials will be put back into circulation and all other items will be thrown away.

The storage area:
