In the Keller Class “Critical Design Studio,” students learned structured techniques for intervening in complex societal challenges. In one project, students created a card game to help players take more active control of the privacy of their personal data online. “Learning about data privacy is usually abstract,” said economics major Chloe Chan, third from left. “We wanted to turn those abstract concepts into something you can see, feel, and react to in real time.” Chan said. The students finished the semester by testing the game with fellow students and professionals at Princeton’s Center for Information Technology Policy. “This was a really, really fun class,” Chan said.
