Clay Williams was named in mid-October to the board of directors of Benchmark Electronics, Inc., a Texas-based company that provides high technology electronics and services to manufacturers of telecommunication equipment, computers, medical devices and other related products.

Williams brings to the appointment over 20 years experience in the energy industry. He is currently the senior vice president and chief financial officer of National Oilwell Varco. The company is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of systems and components used by the oil and gas drilling industry.

Williams received his B.S.E. with highest honors in civil engineering and a certificate of proficiency in geological engineering. This was followed by an M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.
