National Academy of Inventors recognizes Jan Allebach *75 *76

Jan Allebach, the Hewlett-Packard Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Purdue University, was named a 2014 fellow by the National Academy of Inventors.
According to the eligibility criteria listed by the Academy, “nominees should have demonstrated a prolific spirit of innovation creating or facilitating outstanding inventions that have made a tangible impact on quality of life, economic development, and the welfare of society. Allebach’s research has focused on image rendering, image quality, color imaging and color measurement, printer and sensor forensics, and digital publishing. His innovations have led to licensing, patents, and are found in products used worldwide.
Allebach has been on the faculty at Purdue since 1983 and has received several teaching awards in addition to other professional recognition. He is a fellow of the IEEE Signal Processing (SP) Society, the Society for Imaging Science and Technology (IS&T), and SPIE, an international professional society for optics and photonics technology. Allebach received an MSE electrical engineering in 1975 followed by a Ph.D. in electrical engineering and computer science in 1976. Both degrees are both from Princeton.
