Chemical engineer Yannis Kevrekidis has been named a fellow of the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM). The society recognized him as a leader in his field “for research contributions in chemical engineering, applied mathematics, and the computational sciences.”

Kevrekidis is the Pomeroy and Betty Perry Smith Professor in Engineering and Professor of Chemical Engineering and in the Program and Applied and Computational Mathematics. He also is an associated faculty member in the Department of Mathematics.

The 2010 Class of SIAM Fellows, numbering 34 in total, is the second group of fellows chosen since SIAM initiated its fellows program last year, when seven Princeton faculty members were selected as inaguaral fellows. The new fellows will be recognized in July during the 2010 SIAM annual meeting in Pittsburgh.
