Don Dixon, co-founder and managing director of Triton Capital Cybersecurity and graduate from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering in 1969, has taken action to help veterans find employment. Research revealed that besides an 8 to 12 month lag time in distributing forms to be filled out by departing military service members, the forms did not ask for mobile phone numbers or emails, causing a lapse in communication between veteran employment representatives and discharged veterans.

Changing the forms to include that contact information required legislation. With support from former Rep. Mike Rogers (Michigan) and Rep. Jeff Miller (Florida), a pilot program was initiated to gather email and mobile phone numbers as an attachment to the 2015 National Defense Authorization Act. In addition, Dixon has contributed to the creation of an employment website for veterans.
