Academic Partnership appoints Carl Sparks’89 CEO

Carl Sparks is now CEO of Academic Partnerships (AP), an online service provider of technology-aided learning for non-profit universities in the U.S. and other countries. In addition, Sparks is on the AP board of directors. His background in marketing, technology and innovation will be beneficial as he leads the Dallas, Texas-based company during its current rapid growth and through global expansion.

Sparks is the former president and CEO of Travelocity. After leaving the online travel service company, he was investor and adviser to various seed stage and series A stage startups. Previously, he was president of Gilt.com, general manager of Hotels.com, and chief marketing officer and senior vice president of marketing at Expedia. He is a member of the board of directors of Vonage, Dunkin Donuts and ActionIQ. Sparks graduated from Princeton in 1989 with a BSE in mechanical and aerospace engineering.
