Engineering students celebrate excellence with annual teaching awards

One of this year’s Metropolis Project grants is supporting work led by Felix Heide, an assistant professor of computer science, to improve the imaging and computer vision capabilities of sensors for autonomous vehicles. The left panel shows a street scene in heavy snow using a standard vehicle imaging system, while the right panel shows the output of ZeroScatter, a technique developed by Heide’s team that improves image quality and reveals objects at long distances, such as the house at the end of the road.
